The Pioneers of Technical Consultancy, KITCO Going Great Guns
KITCO, one of the pioneers of technical consultancy in India, continues to retain top position in providing a wide range of technical, financial and management consultancy services to the public sector and infrastructure projects not only within India but around the world as well. It was set up in 1972 as a joint venture between IDBI and Kerala Government.
KITCO as a technical consultancy has managed to retain its prime position by undertaking major projects in service and development sectors
The consultancy organisation has managed to retain its prime position by undertaking major projects in aviation, mobility hubs, process engineering, environmental engineering, healthcare infrastructure, human resources development, infrastructure and urban planning and leisure segments.
KITCO has bagged a number of prestigious consultancy projects earlier this year, including setting up of a Defence System Integration Complex for Bharat Electronics Ltd. in Andhra Pradesh, Aero Engine Research and Development Centre in Bengaluru for Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), two expressway projects in Uttar Pradesh, a super speciality hospital in Seychelles and International Ayurveda Research Centre in Kannur.
According to KITCO officials, in Kerala it is involved in several socially relevant projects such as rejuvenation of public schools and expansion of sports infrastructure through KIIFB funding.
“The year 2017-18 was a great year for KITCO as it registered a growth in turnover of 20 per cent to touch Rs. 60.02 crore and an increase in profit of 11.62 per cent to clock Rs. 9.34 crore. The number of projects handled also rose to 138 from 113 during the previous year. We expect to retain 20 per cent growth in 2018-19 thanks to several ongoing projects across the country and abroad,” said Cyriac Davies, Managing Director, KITCO.
The technical consultancy and management firm has come a long way from being a Kerala-centric consultancy to a pan-India and global consultancy, he added.
With Kannur Airport getting ready to welcome its first flight, it is yet another milestone for KITCO as it has been entrusted with the responsibility of executing the Greenfield airport project from concept stage to commissioning. The project is to be completed at an expense of Rs. 65,000 per sq.mt. as stipulated by Airport Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA). KITCO had set the trend in cost effective development of airport terminals in the country with the successful commissioning of T3 International Terminal at Cochin International Airport that led to AERA adopting Rs. 65,000 per sq.mt. as the benchmark.
The Kochi-headquartered KITCO has branch offices in Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai and New Delhi, and has a competent team of 250 professionals under it.
It has successfully completed over 1000 projects and prepared over 3500 Detailed Project Reports (DPR).
