Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) added yet another golden feather to its hat by winning ‘India’s Best Infra Award’ in the 16th edition of ‘Agro Food & Beverage Processing Expo 2018’, held in Mumbai from December 18 to 20. Successful track record in undertaking Industrial Infrastructure projects helped KINFRA win the award.
The event was organised by Trinity Ventures with the support of Government of India through Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of AYUSH and other government bodies. Kerala, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Assam also supported the event by ensuring the participation of representative bodies/departments.
“KINFRA, through its participation, highlighted the strengths of Kerala in food processing, a priority sector of the State; the multi-faceted profile of KINFRA in providing industrial infrastructure for a wide range of industries and the predominant position the body holds in the country in providing infrastructure services to food processing sector in the form of Food Parks,” said Wg. Cdr. K A Santhosh Kumar, Managing Director, KINFRA.
KINFRA represented Kerala as a ‘bronze partner’ of the event.
The event was also used to highlight KINFRA’s Mega Food Park in Palakkad and the various facilities being offered under the project. KINFRA had also put up a stall for displaying the activities being undertaken by the organisation, and for distributing its literature on food processing initiatives and various other sector-specific schemes under the Union and Kerala Government. The stall also doubled as a venue facilitating one-to-one interactions with those taking part in the event.
Majority of the enquiries received were from business entities from other industries, which wanted to enter into food processing sector and were keen on knowing about its prospects. There were also few enquiries from prospective startup promoters and from Keralites based in Mumbai. The event, which was organised mainly to generate B2B and B2C linkages, was also a platform to showcase the food processing sector to highlight the potentials and opportunities available for food entrepreneurs, farmers, equipment manufacturers and other stakeholders in areas such as processed foods, food ingredients and organic foods, as well as prospects for distribution, logistics and retail business.
The expo also showcased several other products particularly related to the hospitality sector.
