‘Kalyanam’ Creates Ripples with Underwater Audio Launch
Thiruvananthapuram: Upcoming Malayalam movie ‘Kalyanam’ has created a record in the Malayalam movie industry with its audio launch being held underwater, a first-of-its kind in the history of cinema. In an initiative to create awareness on ocean conservation, the cast and crew of ‘Kalyanam’, under the guidance of Bond Safari, an underwater adventure company based in Kovalam, dived into the depths of sea at Grove Beach, Kovalam.
This launch has added another feather in the cap of Bond Safari, after they arranged the first underwater wedding in the country and the world’s first underwater CEOs meet. “Ocean pollution, ocean acidification and climate change are the three major challenges faced by humanity and it is high time people understood this and worked towards making an attempt to keep the delicate balance of nature intact,” said Jackson Peter, Managing Director of Bond Safari.
Raja Gopaal Iyer, CEO of Udaya Samudra, invited the guests at the audio launch to be part of the ‘Sagar bacchao’ programme aimed at cleaning the ocean from Kanyakumari to Kasaragod.
This movie launches the star kid Shravan Mukesh, son of actor-politician Mukesh and his ex-wife Saritha. During the audio launch inaugurated by actor Unni Mukundan at Uday Samudra hotel, Mukesh said that ocean conservation was the need of the hour. “No development on land will be complete unless the life-providing oceans are conserved,” he added.
The team including Vijay Babu, owner of Friday Films; Rajesh Nair, producer and director of ‘Kalyanam’, his spouse Usha; Kishore, co-producer; Varsha Bollamma, heroine; and Alex Paul, music director, took the plunge in a themed protective gear, after formal training was provided to them. Varsha Bollamma handed over the model of the music CD to Vijay Babu at the underwater event. The celebrities also removed waste from the bed of the ocean.
Bond Safari also conducts regular scuba diving safaris and workshops for people interested in underwater photography and Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) certification courses. These unique and novel ventures have boosted Kovalam’s status as one of the leading tourist destinations of the state. Kovalam is also evolving as one of the leading Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Events (MICE) destinations in India.
The movie hits the screens on February 9.
