ELECTROLYSIS THE RIGHT WAY
Kochi: The beauty industry has steadily undergone changes to be in sync with the times. Today, ‘permanency’ is redefining the industry. There is a steady shift in the beauty preferences when it comes to hair removal with a growing demand for permanent and hassle-free hair removal techniques.
The huge demand comes with a mounting lack of awareness regarding the technique, the right place one should visit to get the procedure done and fear. Here are a few guidelines from Sherly Kollannur, MD, LiLi Scientific Electrolysis, about electrolysis as a permanent method for hair removal and other points to remember when deciding to go for it.
One of the major problems faced by people who plan to undergo the procedure is the cost. LiLi Electrolysis has developed a cost-effective duration-cost chart for its customers. Sherly explains, “Most such procedures are charged on an hourly basis irrespective of whether they might require a long period of time for it. This is not a one-time affair and needs to be done over a period of time depending on the hair growth cycle. The treatment can be carried out only when the hair is in the growing stage. For instance, the frequency of hair growth on face is around 15-17 days and the treatment has to take place within that time; otherwise, you will be treating dead or dormant hair which is not effective. For those with heavy facial hair growth, the treatment may last even 300 hours over a period of 12 to 18 months.”
Elaborating on the pricing method developed by LiLi Scientific Electrolysis, Prof. K Tharu Benny, Director of LASE Academy says: “If the pricing is on an hourly basis then it would cost a lot for 300 hours. The treatment could last even up to 500 hours if someone is opting for full body treatment, making it unaffordable to many. Our solution is to progressively reduce the per hour cost by offering packages.”
“We look at the number of hairs before deciding on the apt package for a person. When it comes to hair thickness, the probe used for electrolysis is changed accordingly. Moreover, the duration of the procedure for a person also depends on the skill of the technician and this skill is something that we offer,” adds Sherly.
LiLi Scientific Electrolysis shares the price chart with clinics that have opened with its support.
Sherly sheds light on the general perspective regarding laser treatment. “People usually tend to think that laser treatments are permanent, which is not true. Even after 3- 4 sittings of laser treatment, hair will naturally grow back after about six months’ time. We get a lot of laser treatment victims here. People should understand that laser treatment does not work on dark-toned skin. It also does not recognise grey hair. Electrolysis has none of these problems and it also has a solution for ingrown hair,” she says.
LiLi Electrolysis has also introduced disposable probes, which will be used only for a single session. “The one-time use probes are imported from Canada and are affordable as well.”
Her advice for those who fear electrolysis is, “Most beauty parlours offer electrolysis. But these beauticians are taught standard needle electrolysis, which is done using non-insulated wires. This causes pain, permanent scars and burn marks. But here at LiLi we provide 100 hours training to beauticians; perfect skill development plays a major role here.” For details, contact: +91 99616 13806
