Kochi: Kerala Governor P Sathasivam launched the evening daily, Thalsamayam, at Taj Gateway here recently. Delivering the inaugural address, the Governor said the press should work towards highlighting the problems being faced by weaker sections of society. He added that Kerala’s longstanding affinity for language and literature explains the overwhelming presence of media in the State.

Thomas Jacob, former editorial director of Malayala Manorama daily, received the first copy of the daily from the Governor. Besides Kochi, ‘Thalsamayam’ will have editions in Kozhikode and Malappuram. Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, editions will be launched in Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram.

P Sreeramakrishnan, Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly, presided over the function. T P Cheruppa, Editor of Thalsamayam introduced the evening daily to the audience. N P Rajendran; Kamal, film director; Javad K Hassan, Chairman, Nest Group and Soumini Jain, Mayor of Kochi spoke at the event.  Althaf Jehangir, Executive Director and CEO and N Jehangir, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Nest Group are the Directors of Thalsamayam.

Jehangir felicitated the Governor. Biography of Mercy Ravi penned by T P Cheruppa was released by P Sathasivam on the occasion by handing over the first copy to P K Rahim, Chairman, Thalsamayam.
