Villgro to Organise Second Edition of iPitch


Thiruvananthapuram: India’s premier and largest social enterprise incubator, Villgro, is organising the second edition of iPitch – Investment for Impact, an event to identify unconventional social enterprises for providing them support in their growth.

Chennai-based Villgro Innovations Foundation will fund and invest in enterprises that solve pressing social problems in a profitable and scalable manner.

Through the second edition of iPitch, Villgro aims at providing investment, mentoring and networking support to enable the companies grow and help establish a better India. iPitch will recognise companies that come out with bold, unconventional, profitable and scalable solutions to India’s glaring problems like unemployment, lack of affordable quality education and poor health outcomes.

This year’s iPitch aims to offer seed funding to the tune of Rs. 3 crore up to 12 companies. Villgro has brought together six of India’s leading incubators looking for profitable and scalable enterprises working in the field of education, agribusiness, skill development, healthcare, arts & crafts, energy, and clean technology, among others.

The applications are open from August 21 and the last date is September 21.

The selected companies will get an opportunity to showcase their enterprise before investors, policy-makers, corporates and other stakeholders at Villgro’s national conference. They will receive incubation support from India’s leading incubators like Villgro, Venture Center-NCL Pune, TIMed Kerala, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, IIT Kanpur, Start-Up Oasis Jaipur and KIIT Bhubaneswar. The companies will also be considered for an investment of more than Rs. 5 crore from iPitch’s investment partner, Menterra Social Impact Fund. The other investment partners are Venture Centre, TIMed, Startup Oasis, KIIT, SIIC – IIT Kanpur, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park and Artha Venture Fund.

Since 2001, Villgro has incubated over 120 social enterprises, raised Rs. 127 crore investments, created 4,000 jobs and touched over 15 million lives.
