Thiruvananthapuram: Chenkottukonam LP and pre-primary school at Sreekariyam in the State capital has more reasons to celebrate this new academic year. It now has four new classrooms of international standards, donated by Gemini Software Solutions Private Limited, operating out of Technopark.

This 105th CSR initiative by Gemini Software, along with Trivandrum Round Table 66 (The Trivandrum chapter of Round Table India) was inaugurated by Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Cooperation, Tourism & Devaswom on June 1, school reopening day, at the LP School.

Lauding the efforts by Gemini Software and Round Table India, the Minister said that the government’s aim is to raise government schools to the international standards of private schools. “We want to provide quality education and infrastructure to underprivileged students too, like students from upper class of society. The Government’s fund will not be sufficient to provide this. Initiatives like these by corporates will be very helpful in realising our goals,” said Kadakampally Surendran.

“We have already provided a bus to this school,” he added.

“In the 20th year of operations, we are proud that we could associate with Round Table 66 to be able to take up this initiative. For the past ten years, we have been involved in taking up social causes at employee and corporate level. This is our 105th project,” said K K Menon, CEO and MD, Gemini Software.

“We have also provided tutorials and furniture in the educational sector. In this school, we have supported the development of the school library and had provided grow bags to be self-sufficient in farm needs. We look forward to many such initiatives in the future,” he added.

The Minister also suggested to Gemini Software to provide furniture, including benches and desks, in the four classrooms.
