UST Global Collaborated with 13 Govt. Schools in 2017 as Part of CSR Drive

UST Global

Thiruvananthapuram: UST Global has partnered with 13 government schools in Thiruvananthapuram in 2017 with employees spending more than 4500 volunteer hours, as part of its ‘Adopt a School’ CSR initiative. The programme is completely organised and executed by the company’s employees as a part of the employee engagement framework.

Going beyond the ‘cheque writing’ approach, UST Global’s social agenda encourages active involvement of its employees in contributing to social causes. These employee volunteer programmes provide an opportunity for employees to develop their personalities and leadership skills by pursuing aspirations outside their functional areas. Mirroring UST Global’s mission of ‘Transforming Lives,’ the employees are creating sustainable impact through these initiatives.

The key initiatives undertaken for schools in 2017 include educational and/or awareness programmes and infrastructure buildouts. Regular sessions on IT and Communicative English were conducted in some schools, whereas other schools were provided with infrastructure facilities like computer lab, dining hall and kitchen facility. The students of these adopted schools were brought to UST Global’s campus here to provide them exposure to the IT world. Other events like Fire & Safety awareness programme and Green initiatives during Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations were also conducted in these schools as part of this initiative.

Commenting on the success of the initiative, Shilpa Menon, Thiruvananthapuram Centre Head, UST Global, said, “UST Global is committed to live its main motto of ‘Transforming lives’ with various social initiatives it believes in. The mission of ‘Adopt a School’ programme is to reach out to the nearby schools with a helping hand and provide exposure programmes for students of these schools to think outside of the normal school curriculum. We encourage employees to spend time and use their talent in helping these children, thus realising their passion to give back to society. We sincerely thank all the employees who came forward, all the school staff and management who believed in us, and UST Global for providing this platform.”
