Kochi: Eram Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a division of Eram Group based in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, will provide Basic Life Support (BLS) training to 22 employees of Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) free of cost. The training provided by its Skill Development Academy, Espoir, at INKEL Tower at Angamaly near here is designed and certified by American Heart Association (AHA).

Basic Life Support (BLS) is the primary medical aid provided to a person in an emergency medical situation. BLS procedure is mainly used on people experiencing cardiac arrest or respiratory failure. With this procedure, the breathing and heartbeat of the person can be resuscitated. The AHA’s BLS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. The video-based, instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and the team basic life support skills for application in both in-facility and pre-hospital settings.

“Even though we are operating only for a distance of 18 km, KMRL is equipped with medical emergency facilities across our corridor like any modern transit system. We already have medical rooms at a few stations and facilities for offering medical assistance throughout Kochi Metro corridor. With this training we will be able to handle any kind of emergency situations with more confidence,” said Mohammed Hanish IAS, MD, KMRL.

“The metro rail system and the newly-envisaged Integrated Water Transport System (Water Metro) of KMRL intend to provide reliable, safe, economic, comfortable, user-friendly and punctual mode of transport to a large section of the population in Kochi. Considering the large number of people that KMRL serves and anticipating life-threatening accidents or emergencies at any point of time, Eram Group would like to associate with KMRL to provide the BLS training to their employees,” said Dr. Siddeek Ahmed, CMD, Eram Group.
