Kerala Assembly Speaker Presents A P Aslam Awards

Thiruvananthapuram: A P Aslam was a saviour of non-resident Keralites and could do many things in a very short span of time, said P Sreeramakrishnan Speaker of Kerala Assembly. He was inaugurating A P Aslam Awards presentation ceremony held here.

Sreeramakrishnan presented the A P Aslam Prathibha Puraskaram, given in recognition of the contribution to cultural and literary fields, to M K Sanu, author, on the occasion. P N C Menon, Chairman, Sobha Group and Sree Kurumba Charitable Trust, was presented with the A P Aslam Puraskaram given to the non- resident Indian businessmen and industrialists in recognition of their social commitment. Ravi Menon, son of P N C Menon, received the award on behalf of his father from the Speaker.

A P Aslam Achievement Award, which is given to firms engaged in charitable activities, was presented to C H Muhammed Koya Charitable Centre. Machilangath Basheer, General Secretary, Bismi Cultural Centre, Malappuram, was presented with the award for the best social worker. The awards, instituted by the Kshema Foundation, carry a cash prize of Rs. 25,001, certificate and citation.

G Maheen Aboobacker, Patron, Kshema Foundation, presided over the award function. K T Jaleel, Minister for Local Administration, delivered the A P Aslam memorial speech. George Onakkoor, Pandalam Sudhakaran, K K Abdul Salam, Maruthamkuzhi Satheesh, Rashid, E M Najeeb, G P Padmakumar and M A Razaq Master spoke.
