Thiruvananthapuram: To celebrate the remarkable contribution of women to society and workplace, UST Global Thiruvananthapuram Centre celebrated Women’s Day on its campus. The event was inaugurated by eminent guests R Sreelekha IPS, AGDP (Prisons); Dr. V R Lalithambika, Scientist and Deputy Director VSSC (Control Guidance and Simulation Entity) and Meera Nair, Journalist & Writer. The events started with prayer and the guests lighting the traditional lamp. The theme of the event was ‘Press for Progress’.

The day-long celebration included music performance, various dance shows, award presentation to a few Inspiring women from the centre and prize distribution for various competitions held. The celebration saw a huge attendance by the employees.

The Chief Guests shared inspiring stories and messages. While Sreelekha spoke on her experiences as the first woman IPS officer from the State, Lalithambika spoke about her professional journey as an employee of the VSSC. Meera Nair spoke on womanhood and recited one of her exciting poems, ‘Woman’. The session was also interactive as UST Global’s women employees got to know more about the experiences of these eminent personalities. Shilpa Menon, Thiruvananthapuram Centre Head, UST Global, also addressed the employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Shilpa Menon said, “We believe that Women’s Day is a very significant day, and a strategic focus and commitment is necessary to change the landscape of gender skew in our society.
