Health Education Director of Oman Visits MPower Centre at Magic Planet

Thiruvananthapuram: Dr. Amira Abdul Mohsin Al Raidan, Director of Health Education and Awareness Programmes, Government of Oman, visited the MPower Centre situated at Magic Planet here the other day. The MPower Centre, a permanent venue, is designed with the objective of providing sustainable vocational support to the differently abled children by helping them nurture talent for performing magic. Dr. Amira is the head the programmes meant for assisting Autistic children in the Middle East region.

The magic performance of 23 differently abled children selected as brand ambassadors of Kerala Social Security Mission’s Anuyathra campaign was held at the MPower Centre on the occasion. Children with autism spectrum disorders like cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, and other mental disorders were part of the team. The children surprised the audience with some colourful items that include producing ‘Lady India’ from an open box.

At a function held in the afternoon at Mascot Hotel here, K K Shailaja, Minister for Health and Social Justice, honoured Dr. Amira for her valuable contributions and initiatives for the welfare of autistic children. Later, she participated in an interactive discussion and shared her valuable thoughts on Spectrum Disorder Management and its best practices.

On the occasion, P B Nuhu IAS, Director, Kerala Social Security Mission (KSSM); Mohammed Asheel, Executive Director, KSSM; Dr. Ramla Beevi, Director, Medical Education, Kerala; Gopinath Muthukad, Executive Director, Magic Academy and Chandrasenan Mithirmala, Director, Magic Academy were also present at the event.

MPower team has been continuously trained and mentored by the Academy of Magical Sciences with the support of Kerala Social Security Mission and now these children are displaying their talents before hundreds of audience reaching Magic Planet every day.
