Kochi: The Kerala Government will take initiatives to address the issues being faced by homestay entrepreneurs in the State, according to P Bala Kiran IAS, Director, Kerala Tourism.

He was inaugurating the valedictory function of the three-day Homestays and Rural Tourism Travel Meet here the other day. Steps will be initiated in coordination with different government departments to address the various issues faced by the homestay entrepreneurs who enter the segment as a gainful self-employment option, he said. The Tourism Department, which will give special consideration to youngsters who become part of the tourism industry, will launch special marketing campaigns to promote homestays in the State, Bala Kiran said.

M P Sivadathan, Director, Kerala Homestay and Tourism Society (Kerala HATS), presided over the function.
Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon, Tourism Director, Punjab; R Roopesh, State Coordinator, Responsible Tourism and Abraham George, former President, Kerala Travel Mart, among others, spoke on the occasion.
