Aster DM Healthcare to Expand Presence in Kerala

Kochi: Aster has announced more healthcare projects in Kerala. Speaking to media persons here, Dr. Azad Moopen, CMD of Aster DM Healthcare, said the Group will launch two hospital projects in Kerala – in Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram -and is also evaluating a proposal to set up a Children’s Hospital in Kochi.

This will add another 1,099 beds under Aster, which already has 2,480 beds in its four hospitals in Kerala with 4,764 employees and is thus one among the largest private sector healthcare players in the state. “Aster MIMS at Kannur and Aster Capital at Thiruvananthapuram are in different stages of construction and planning. The proposal for the new 150-bed Aster Children’s Hospital in Kochi is in planning and conceptualisation stage and will be located within the Aster Medcity campus,” said Azad Moopen.

The project work on the 200-bed Multi-Speciality Aster MIMS at Chala, Kannur is underway and is expected to be ready for launch by 2018. This shall serve the population of North Kerala, he added. Regarding the Aster Capital at Thiruvananthapuram, he said the land has been acquired near Akkulam lake on NH 66 at Thiruvananthapuram for the Multi-Speciality Hospital, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2021.

Azad Moopen also added that the Group will come up with an Initial Public Offering (IPO) by the end of this year.
