BYJU’S Receives Funding from Belgium Firm


Bengaluru: BYJU’S, the Bengaluru-based education-tech startup, has received funding from Belgium-based venture firm Verlinvest.

The startup, which already has presence in the Indian and the Gulf markets, is planning to expand to the USA, UK, South Africa and other African and Commonwealth markets.

Those familiar with the development place the deal at $30 million at a valuation of $676 million (approximately Rs. 4500 crore).

BYJU’S targets students from Classes IV to XII and those taking competitive exams like JEE, NEET, CAT, IAS, GRE and GMAT. BYJU’S learning app makes use of original content, graphics and other video tools to explain concepts and theories that makes learning contextual and visual, not just theoretical. It uses technology and data science to make learning personalised.
