Startup Mission Organises IEDC Nodal Officers’ Meet

Kochi: Kerala Startup Mission has organised Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) nodal officers’ meet at Technology Innovation Zone at Kalamaserry near here the other day.

The IEDC are small incubators within the colleges wherein students are given exposure to develop their innovative idea while studying. These IEDCs are monitored by nodal officers who are in charge of the respective IEDCs.

A total of 152 nodal officers – who are the first level mentors for every student startups, from across the State participated in the two-day event.

Addressing the nodal officers, M Sivasankar IAS, Principal Secretary, IT said that the colleges have a large pool of students who are keen to be entrepreneurs and the nodal officers are the key point in promoting/screening the ideas. When these nodal officers are made capable of assessing the ideas and identifying the business opportunities, more startups will be coming out from the colleges, he said.

The programme started with the inaugural address by Dr. Jayasankar Prasad, CEO Kerala Startup Mission.

Sivasankar urged the nodal officers to go through the Draft IT Policy of Kerala and come up with suggestions, if any, before April 5.

He launched the AAYI (Adopt A Young Idea) Portal of GTech on the occasion. Anoop P Ambika, Secreatry, GTtech introduced the portal.

Dr. Abha Rishi, Associate Professor of Birla Institute Of Management & Technology (BIMTECH); Santhosh Kurup, CEO, ICT Academy; Robin Tommy, Innovation Lead at Tata Consultancy Services; Dr. Anil Gupta, Founder, Honey Bee Network; Vijay Paul, Co-Founder, PCS Partner; Robin Alex Panicker, Co-Investor, Konglo Venture, among others, addressed various sessions.

The panel discussion, held as part of the last session, was chaired by Kuncheria P Isaac, Vice Chancellor, KTU and Dr. Jayasankar Prasad, CEO Kerala Startup Mission.
