Managing Oneself is the First Step in Managing People, Resources: Sadhguru


Kochi: The 36th annual management convention of the Kerala Management Association (KMA) began here on Thursday.

Inaugurating the convention at Le Meridien Convention Centre, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, founder of Isha Foundation, said a person who is not capable of managing himself and controlling his mind will not be able to manage a group.

He was speaking on ‘Changing India – New paradigms’, the theme of the two-day convention.
“Nations now measure their success on the basis of their success in businesses, and businesses succeed when they are managed well. However, managing oneself is the first step in managing people and resources,” he added.

T N Manoharan, Chairman, Canara Bank,  who took part in the inaugural session as the guest of honour, said skilling of youth is one of the biggest challenges facing the country. “India has a large young population, but they need to be made employable,” he added.

Mathew Urumbath, President, KMA and Madhav Chandran, Honorary Secretary KMA were among those who spoke on the occasion. Vivek Govind, Vice-President, KMA and Convention Chairman welcomed the gathering.

Various technical sessions on topics like ‘Technology and Innovation in Changing Times’, ‘Success and Challenges of an Entrepreneur’,  ‘India Inc. in Changing Times’ and ‘Opportunities for Nextgen in the Changing World’ were held on Friday.

Roshy John, Head of Robotics and Cognitive Systems at TCS; Vivek Karunakaran, international fashion designer; P Mohamed Ali, Chairman, MFAR Group;  Anuradha Balaram, former member-secretary, Kerala State Planning Board; Ullas Kamath, MD, Jyothy Laboratories and George M George, Director, Muthoot Finance Ltd., among others, spoke at various sessions.
