Kerala’s IT Sector will Generate One Lakh Job Opportunities: IT Secretary


Kochi: Kerala is in the process of adding more than 10 million sq.ft. of work space in the IT sector which, in turn, will translate into one lakh jobs, according to M Sivasankar IAS, State IT Secretary.

He was delivering a lecture on ‘Changing Paradigms in IT Sector’ at the IT Leadership Conclave organised by the Kerala Management Association (KMA) as part of the Management Week observance here the other day.

Sivasankar said the main problem being faced by the IT sector in the State is the non-employability of engineers graduating from institutions in the state. “The government is trying to address the problem by setting up finishing schools,” he said. The finishing schools are being run with the help of industry experts having extensive experience in conducting classes, he added.

The event was presided over by Mathew Urumbath, President, KMA. Dinesh P Thampi, Kerala Chief, TCS and Vivek Krishna Govind, senior vice-president KMA also attended.
