Toonz Short Film Wins Award at UNESCO-Salon Competition


Thiruvananthapuram: Children’s entertainment behemoth Toonz Media Group’s short film ‘Magical Piano’ has won award at the UNESCO Salon Youth Video Competition 2016.

At a function held in Marrakesh, Morocco recently, Fred Wang, Salon Films Chairman and Armelle Arrou, Chief of Public Relations and Partnerships, UNESCO handed over the award.

Irina Bokova, UNESCO Director-General, congratulated the winners and praised them for their wonderful creativity. Dr. Avaneesh, Head of Development, Toonz Media Group, received the award on behalf of Toonz.

”It is indeed a delight to know that our short film won an award in this amazing competition which upholds such sublime values. Our youth videos have won many awards in the past. Yet, this one is very special and truly close to our heart,” said P Jayakumar, CEO, Toonz Media Group.

The award-winning short film ‘Magical Piano’ was created in association with the Toonz-Disney collaborative venture ‘Kahaani Masters,’ a story-writing contest organised to find out the finest story masters in the country.

The Salon Youth Video Competition was established by Salon Films, with the support of UNESCO, to promote and encourage the next generation to take part in the biggest challenge of the 21st century, sustainable development.
