Offering Airfare Solutions to Global Travel Industry

Kochi: Rajeev Kumar was on one of his work-related trips to the UK. But when he wanted to change a ticket he purchased in India after reaching the UK, he found it rather difficult. His travel agent back home insisted that it was not possible and he had to buy a new ticket. And the estimated cost of a new ticket was not acceptable to him. But at the same time, an agency in the UK quoted a different price. “This was a revelation for me and, after a couple of years or so when I thought of starting something on my own, this idea came to my mind,” says Rajeev Kumar, who is the Founder-Managing Director and CEO of Mystifly Airlines Consolidator (mystifly.com).

Hailing from Kottayam, Rajeev completed BE in Computer Science from Bangalore University and did MBA in marketing and strategy from International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi. He gained ‘hands on’ experience in developing business processes and technology strategy for renowned travel and hospitality companies in India, including MakeMyTrip while working at Divas Software in New Delhi. Later, Rajeev moved up the ladder and worked at senior management positions with Final Quadrant Solutions, New Delhi and Fix Flow Ltd., UK.

“Though the incident had struck me, I had no plans to start anything on my own then. But when I was looking for a business idea, this incident popped up and I started analysing whether this was a big enough problem to be addressed,” Rajeev elaborates on the story behind Mystifly. After evaluating the depth of the problem through discussions with the CEOs of many large travel companies around the world, Rajeev started Mystifly in 2009.

From a five-member team set up in Bengaluru in 2009, Mystifly has now grown into the largest airfare platform in the world, covering over 900-plus airlines, including low cost carriers. The firm has ticketed 34,000 pairs connecting 190-plus countries and bagged the prestigious ‘World’s Leading Airlines Consolidator’ award for the second consecutive year. It is an anywhere-to-anywhere global airfare marketplace and one of the biggest B2B global airfare consolidator services companies that empowers travel businesses by providing travel technology solutions to tour operators, travel agents, online travel agents, corporates, hotels and travel management companies across the globe.

Mystifly is serving its customers through multiple products such as MyFareBox, OnePoint, Xclusive and Azygos. MyFareBox is a B2B platform for travel organisations, which presents advanced fare matrix, facilitating simplified and faster way for selecting airfares. “It saves up to 40 per cent on global airfares, including market-specific public and private airfares, mitigates the risk due to fluctuation in currency exchange rates and provides an option to hold PNR on time, reducing the possible loss associated with uncertain PNR status,” says Rajeev Kumar.

OnePoint is a global airfare API which is a sophisticated blend of existing GDS technologies. It is hosted on highly scalable infrastructure and is built on open standards using Web Services XML, SOAP, WSDL and UDDI that is compliant with OTA standard XML schemes. “It helps the customers to increase profitability, reduce transaction costs, simplify procurement processes and eventually, improves customer service,” adds Rajeev. OnePoint is a smart Airfare Shopping Engine that helps source global airfares at a much lower rate than any other published fare that is available in any other country.

Azygos is an advanced and sophisticated travel technology solution to help travel players and corporates with in-depth revenue, supplier and multi-fare management. Mystifly has clients, including Thomas Cook, FCM Travel, CWT, Dnata, BCD, Qunar, Yatra, Cleartrip, ezeego1, Via, Kiwi, Cheapoair, Rovia, Wipro, Kanoo, Connexions, Saveonresorts and Smartfares. Mystifly has raised its first Series A round of funding led by RSI I Fund LLC, Japan, which is operated by Recruit Holdings Co. Ltd., for the purpose of business development.
