State Govt. Sanctions Rs. 10 crore for SDF Construction

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Government has accorded administrative sanction for providing Rs. 10 crore towards the construction of the Standard Design Factory (SDF) at KINFRA Industrial Park, Koratty. This was announced by A C Moideen, State Industries and Commerce Minister, during his recent visit to the Park. KINFRA has decided to construct new SDF in the wake of huge demand for space from investors. The new five-storey building, with modern facilities, is coming up on 96 cents of land, which has been lying vacant at the Park. Once commissioned, the facility will provide direct employment to 500 persons and indirect jobs to another 1000 people.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 28 crore. “Of this, the State Government has given administrative sanction for Rs. 10 crore. It is expected that the work would be completed within 18 months,” the Minister said.

Minister Moideen exuded confidence that the proposed industrial corridor from Kochi to Coimbatore would benefit small enterprises, including those based at KINFRA Parks.

“The idea is to utilise land available with local self-governing bodies coming within the limits of industrial corridor for the promotion of manufacturing industries,” he said. Spread over an area of 30 acres, KINFRA Industrial Park at Koratty has 35 manufacturing units and employs more than 1200 people. It also hosts CARe Keralam Ltd., an Ayurvedic resource centre, which is a joint venture between 53 Ayurvedic companies and the State Government.
