INKEL Promoting Solar Energy through Various Projects

Thiruvananthapuram: INKEL Ltd. has forayed into solar business development in a move to promote advanced solar PV (photo-voltaic) technology for large and medium grid applications. As part of exploring ways to harness green energy, the company is expanding its operations to solar streetlights, high-mast lamps and semi-high-mast lightings.

Currently, INKEL is in the process of implementing the largest solar street lighting system along the Ponkunnam- Pala-Thodupuzha stretch. “Of the total 1115 units, the company has now successfully commissioned 650 street lights. The project is expected to be completed very soon,” said T Balakrishnan, Managing Director, INKEL.

INKEL has already implemented a number of rooftop solar projects. “Our focus is to implement solar PV projects and solar street light systems of 10 kWp and more. This year, solar projects with capacity of 1MW will be implemented,” Balakrishnan said.

According to him, the functional philosophy of INKEL is to create a vibrant environment that promotes investment in various businesses/Green engineering projects in the State. “Our Solar Division offers supply and implementation of large-scale solar PV power plants on a turnkey basis, operation and maintenance support of solar projects and AMC of solar PV projects. Moreover, a team will conduct free training for customers and help them with extended AMC (operation and maintenance for seven years) and data monitoring facility to keep track of the yield. Being a PPP company, the customer can confidently award the project to us,” he said.

INKEL will act as EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor and implementation agency for solar project on a turnkey basis. Also the company can provide innovative financial models for prospective clients. Inkel has tie up with world’s best manufacturers of solar panels, inverters as well as batteries. Also the company has a team of expert technicians for ensuring timely completion and maintenance of the facility.
