Kochi: In a maiden presidential visit to the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB), President Pranab Mukherjee will have a first-hand experience of the spectacular contemporary art event where he will also inaugurate a seminar on ‘Importance of sustainable culture building’ at Cabral Yard Pavilion on March 2.

In view of security reasons, both Aspinwall House and Cabral Yard will be closed for the day, but other Biennale venues will remain open and there will be free entry on that day.

P Sathasivam, Kerala Governor and Pinarayi Vijayan, State Chief Minister, will address the gathering while Kadakampally Surendran, Tourism Minister, will deliver the welcome address at the function that begins at 4 pm.

Prof. K V Thomas MP, K J Maxi MLA, Soumini Jain, Kochi Corporation Mayor and Dr. Venu V IAS, Principal Secretary, Tourism will be present. Bose Krishnamachari, president, Kochi Biennale Foundation, will deliver a vote of thanks.

After the inaugural function, the seminar on ‘Importance of sustainable culture- building’ will be held. Ashok Vajpeyi, renowned poet; Riyas Komu, Biennale co-founder and artist, and K Satchidanandan, acclaimed Malayalam poet, are the panelists. Prof. M V Narayanan will moderate the session.

The two-hour-long seminar is slated to begin at 5.15 pm.

Entry restrictions will be lifted from March 3.
