This Edition of DK CEO Roundtable to Discuss Medical Value Travel


Thiruvananthapuram: The fourth edition of RADO Switzerland presents ‘Destination Kerala CEO Roundtable: The Growth Dialogues’ powered by INKEL Limited, to be held at Le Meridien Kochi on March 13, will focus on the theme ‘Shaping Asia’s Emerging Healthcare Destination’.

The titans of the healthcare industry will come together to deliberate on issues pertaining to Medical Value Travel (MVT) in Kerala and the opportunities that lie ahead. The proceedings will be covered extensively in Destination Kerala magazine’s print and online editions.

The past editions of the CEO Roundtable have focused on Tourism, Real Estate and Startup Ecosystem.

S K Abdulla, CEO, VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi

Advocate-turned-Administrative Officer, he started his career as a lawyer in 1976 in Ernakulam. Abdulla moved to Dubai as a legal consultant in 1980. Later, he served as Head of Human Resources, Khaleej Times, Dubai from 1982 to 1992 and Regional Manager of NMC Group of Companies, Dubai from 1992 to 2007. He joined VPS, Abu Dhabi in 2007 and served the organisation in various capacities, including as the Regional Director. He has worked and lived in the Middle East (UAE and Oman) from 1980 to 2016. He moved back to Kochi to become CEO of Lakeshore Hospital now owned by VPS.

Ashok P Menon, CEO, Cosmopolitan Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram

Having served State Bank of Travancore for 30 years, Ashok P Menon retired from service as Chief Manager before joining his current role in January 2016. He is the immediate past President of Rotary Club of Thiruvananthapuram. An MBA Graduate from IGNOU, Ashok is also a CAIIB (Chartered Associate of Indian Institute of Banker) from Indian Institute of Bankers.

Dr. Harish Pillai, Cluster Head-Kerala, Aster DM Healthcare and CEO, Aster Medcity, Kochi

An expert in commissioning green field hospitals and leading strategic restructuring of ‘sick’ projects, Dr. Harish Pillai was the CEO of As Salam International Hospital, Cairo, for seven years (Egypt’s biggest JCI-accredited private tertiary care hospital). After doing MBBS from Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, he did his Post Graduation in Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) from Apollo Institute of Hospital Administration, Hyderabad. He also worked as the Director, Belhoul Specialty Hospital, Dubai.

Rev. Fr. Johnson Vazhapilly CMI, Executive Director, Rajagiri Hospital, Aluva

Fr. Johnson Vazhapilly CMI has been serving as Secretary of Rajagiri Healthcare and Education Trust since its inception in 2011. He has also served as Secretary for Education (2005-2008) of the Sacred Heart Province, Rajagiri, Kalamassery and Secretary for Finance (2008-2011) of the Sacred Heart Province, Rajagiri, Kalamassery.

Krishnakumar Ananthasivan, Director, Grant Thornton India

With over 15 years of professional experience in Audit and Accounting Advisory Services to MNC & domestic companies in Manufacturing, Telecom, Metals & Mining, Textiles, Education, ITES, BFSI and Plantation, Krishnakumar Ananthasivan played a key role in establishing Grant Thornton office in Kochi. He is responsible for client engagements and business development in Kerala and Coimbatore. A CA degree holder from ICAI, he was earlier with KPMG, Deloitte Haskins & Sells and Karur Vysya Bank.

P Neelakannan, Group COO, KIMS Healthcare Group

Responsible for 6 KIMS hospitals across Kerala & Telangana (1800 beds), Neelakannan started his career with a 100-bed single specialty hospital. He served as Head of Marketing, Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital, Kozhikode; General Manager Operations, Vasan Eye Care Hospital; Regional Head Operations, Wockhardt Hospital and Senior VP, Kovai Medical Center & Hospital, Coimbatore 2011-2016 (1000-bed). A Graduate in Commerce from Bharathidasan University, Trichy, he did his Masters in Hospital Management from Madurai Kamaraj University and MBA from Annamalai University, Chidambaram (finance and marketing).

Dr. Prashant Pillai, Director,, Kochi

A Dental Specialist for over 20 years – Oro-Maxillofacial Surgeon & Implantologist, Dr. Prashant is President, Dental Implantology Society of Kerala (DISK). A Clinical Master in Immediate Loading Implantology – International Implant Foundation, Munich, Germany, Dr. Pillai is FIBOMS (Fellow – Indian Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons), FICOI (Fellow – International Congress of Implantologists) and FISOI (Fellow – Indian Society of Oral Implantologists). He is the HoD of Dentistry & Oro-Maxillofacial Surgery, Saraf Hospital, Ravipuram, Kochi. The is a well-established dental tourism player since last six years.

Dr. Rahul Menon, CEO, Aster MIMS, Kozhikode

With over 14 years of experience in the field of healthcare, Dr. Rahul Menon has earlier served as CEO, Rabindra Nath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, a unit of Narayana Hridyalaya, Kolkata. An MD in Hospital Administration from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, he did his Post Graduate Diploma in Medico Legal Systems (PGDMLS) from Symbiosis Centre of Health Sciences, Pune.
